Focus Hope Headquarters, February 2012

Focus Hope Headquarters, February 2012

Three Hollingsworth Volunteers gave 5 hours of their day to Focus Hope’s Headquarters on Thursday, February 16th .  They spent the day behind the scenes at the Westside Food Center, where those who meet the income guidelines can go to pick up food for their family.  Volunteers opened box after box and restacked them so that they were easily accessible to the people who would be coming to shop over the next day or so.  It was very rewarding to be able to see residents of Detroit and the surrounding area passing through, and to know that Hollingsworth helped make their days a little easier.

All Saints Soup Kitchen, January 2012

On Thursday, January 26th , three Hollingsworth Volunteers went to All Saints Soup Kitchen to help serve a meal to people in our community who are less fortunate.  The church serves 3 hot meals a week, consisting of a main course, salad, bread, and dessert, to over 150 Detroit residents.  In addition, they provide loaves of bread for the attendees to take home, as well as a small “shopping area”, where they are welcome to take home any items they may need that have been donated by others in the community.  It was truly a great cause and a wonderful organization to be a part of, even for the day, and Hollingsworth is so happy to have been able to help out!

Salvation Army, December 2011

Seven Hollingsworth Volunteers spent their day at Southland Mall, in Taylor, Michigan, on December 15th, helping out the Salvation Army.  Their mission that day was to help families in the Metro Detroit Area have a much better Christmas than they would have had otherwise.  Volunteers took turns working at the “Angel Tree” collecting toys for children in need, and standing outside manning the Red Kettles and ringing the bells while shoppers donated money to the Salvation Army’s cause.  It was time well spent, resulting in three filled-to-the-brim kettles, and a wagon full of toys!  Thank you Hollingsworth Volunteers for your gift of giving!

Helping Hands

Hollingsworth also supports its employees’ charitable efforts as well.  Hollingsworth Logistic Group developed a program called “Helping Hands” in 1997. This program continually raises money through employee contributions and company sponsored events to support local charities. The “Helping Hands” program has donated money to Save our Sons and Daughters, St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen, The Alternative Home for Girls, ACCESS, and The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit. In addition to organized charities, the “Helping Hands” program has donated money to individual families within the local community who have experienced major hardships such as fire and theft.
